Martial arts champ chops her way to gold

She was only three-years-old when she started training at her father's dojo.

FOUR gold medals in the bag and the title of champion is enough to keep nine-year-old Arianna Webster motivated for years to come.

The martial arts champion, knocked out the competition with four wins at the Full Contact Martial Arts Association National Championship held on Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 April.

The Fynnlands Primary School learner placed first in weapons, forms, traditional contact sparring and in unison forms.

Her inspiration in practicing martial arts is all thanks to her father and international gold medalist veteran sensei Carl Webster of the Academy of Martial Arts Subarashii Dojo.

She was only three-years-old when she started training at her father’s dojo.
She said that martial arts is a good sport to know because it helps to teach the youngsters about self-defense. “If you are getting bullied or you get attacked, at least you will have the knowledge on how to defend yourself,” she said.

Webster mostly enjoys competing and loves training to improve her skills.
“I was so excited when I won all my medals and I’m happy and proud that I did so well,” she said.
