Dancers perform their swandance this December

The production includes the best of 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today's popular music.

THE Wentworth Arts and Culture Organisation will end the year on a high note with its Dance Movement end of year production entitled ‘Old Skool versus New Skool’ which is to be staged on Saturday, 8 December at 7pm and Sunday, 9 December at 5pm at the UKZN Jubilee Hall.
However, with the general lack of support and the arts and culture department having cut its financial support to such organisations, the Dance Movement project may well be staging its last production.
The production includes the best of 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today’s popular music. The 72 cast members ranging in age from five to 22 years of age will perform dance styles such as soul train moves, hip hop, RnB, contemporary and house to famous compilations like The Jackson Five’s ‘Blame it on the Boogie’ and Tavares ‘More than a Woman’, among many others.

“The arts and culture sector is such an important component to youth development and the fact that funds were cut from all our arts organisations from government at city and provincial level leaves no space for further growth and sustainability in the arts. This has resulted in many of our art organisationsgoing into 2019 under threat of closure. We are the social hubs of arts and culture and we attract tourism with our events,” said artistic director Jarryd Watson.
Be sure to catch the vibrancy of Dance Movement as they set in motion what may well be their last production, which promises to the best yet from this talented troupe. To support this show, dance production tickets can be purchased by calling 082-683-9665 or at the door an hour before the shows commence.
