Montlands librarian, Lionel Reddy said the launch was an opportunity to provide people with a platform to promote their work and to afford people an opportunity to meet the authors and support them.

“It was a successful event in that the launch of book clubs in libraries was also brought to the fore. It is hoped these activities will play a pivotal role in encouraging young people to read and make use of library resources.

I would like to thank the authors, members of the community and library staff who made the event a success,” he added.

To encourage the youth to read and write, a book club was established at Montlands library by English teacher and avid reader, Nonjabulo Mthembu. She started a book club in her Montclair home with just three people. “The club was formally started in April and since then it has grown. I’m happy to be allowed to bring this book club to the library and encourage the youth to read and interact through reading,” she said.
