GALLERY: Dancers do well in competition

Dancers from Michelle's Dancing Academy in Alberton recently took part at Talent Africa regionals in the hope to receive their provincial colours and qualify for nationals.

“We had one of our youngest participants, Gizelle Magalhaes (5), compete. She received her colours and will now be working towards nationals,” said coach and owner Michelle Johnson.

Luan Celliers, Miné Hoffman, Marissa Cronjé, Shannon James, Madri Oosthuizen, Anika du Raan, Nikita Goosen, Kourtney Klassen, Maleah Marrian, Denise Fourie, Robyn Botha, Tandice Rynhoud, Shimoné Maartens, Zoe Salzwedel and Sinenhlanla Tshikonwane all competed and received their provincial colours and secured their spot at nationals 2021.

The following girls competed in the groups’ section, also qualifying: Maleah, Madri, Kourtney, Nikita, Denise, Robyn, Shannon, Zoe, Tandice and Shimoné.

Shannon, Tandice, Shimoné, Marissa and Murunwa Muavha competed in the modelling sections and all of them also qualified.

“Shannon also competed in the drama section, which she also qualified in, and Murunwa qualified in two vocal sections and did very well,” said Michelle.

“Well done to all these amazing, hardworking students. Now we are preparing for nationals in October.”
