Twinchild Edozie drops a brand new single

South Africa-based Nigerian singer and songwriter sensation Twinchild Edozie drops latest single, My Yoko.

After having spent years working on several successful musical endeavours, including performing at many musical events in South Africa, Twinchild Edozie from Robertsham returns to the music scene with the release of his latest single, My Yoko, meaning My Love.

The singer and songwriter hails from Ovoko in Enugu State of Nigeria.

From international performances and recordings, having dolled out a chart-topping album and a couple of singles, Twinchild’s versatility as an artist is as consistent as it is enthralling.

“I have been in the music industry for over 20 years now, where I shared stages with local and international artists such as 2face, Timaya, Cassper Nyovest, Toya Delazy. I have already proven that my creative skills extend far beyond the stage and I am now excited to release my latest single.

“My latest single is called My Yoko, which is a song I wrote for the lovers. It is an Afropop love song with a dynamic flow with captivating lyrics, an infusion of Afropop and Afro-house that gave birth to a contemporary Afro-Highlife. Truly a love song to the core,” said Twinchild Edozie.

Inspiration

The song was inspired by a desire to create something special that will get men and women from all cultures vibing.

“Love was also part of what inspired the creation of the song. I so much wanted to create something for the lovers as much I wanted to do it for myself and the love of my life,” he said.

My Yoko is the single off Twinchild Edozie’s latest album, Music And I, which will be released in July.

“All the tracks on Music And I are short stories that stem from life experiences and the desire to create something beautiful for my teeming supporters. My Yoko is no different.

“I have always dreamed of creating a concept album like many names in the industry. Conceptual not only in design but mainly in the depth of lyric and variety of style and essence. After years of writing and ideation, we officially started working on the album at Demag Studios in early 2020.

It took months of hard work, fund-raising, patience, saving and focus to create and finish the album independently, but we did it and I couldn’t be more proud of this body of work,” said Twinchild Edozie.

He said he worked on his album early last year and the experience was a bit difficult but he had to uplift his creativity.

“The effect of Covid-19 and lockdown was immense on not only me but the majority of music artists, but as creative minds we will always find the silver lining in every situation, no matter how challenging it may seem.

Making music during lockdown was a lot easier as one doesn’t have a lot of distractions. You are always at home, so it will be easy to concentrate and have a lot of musical concerts, gigs or shows I have to fall back to doing what I love, which is making music.

It was an opportunity to produce my second studio album and I took it. It is safe to say that Covid-19 has changed our world but it won’t deter us because we are unstoppable,” he said.
