WATCH: Aviation student’s hobby lands her NIVEA Skinfluencer deal

From merely sharing content online, little did Lesego Mogonediwa know her expertise will secure her an opportunity to be among 10 NIVEA Skinfluencers in the country.

The 20-year-old tech-savvy content creator from Meyersdal was crowned NIVEA Skinfluencer in 2020 following several votes and support from the public.

The public was invited to choose up to 10 of their favourite videos from an initial selection of 20. After the process, the results were audited, and the 10 entrants with the highest numbers were announced winners.

According to Mogonediwa, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity secures a handful of exclusive deals.

The prize is valued at R70 000 per winner and includes a year’s contract with NIVEA, a year’s supply of products, a portfolio shoot, a laptop, a new smartphone as well as a cash prize.

“The prize also offers a year’s learning experience that includes exclusive online tutorials to assist with becoming a professional digital influencer. It offers a behind-the-scenes learning experience on a photoshoot, and an opportunity to create digital content for NIVEA for 12 months,” said Lesego.

Life-changer

Mogonediwa is an aviation student and YouTuber who shares feminine health tips on her YouTube channel.
She started doing this at age 18 after completing matric.

“I started creating videos on YouTube and like every person out there I started off sharing about make-up. I then realised I wanted to give out more valuable information and I developed an interest in feminine health and lifestyle. I’m now mainly on Instagram and TikTok,” she said.

In an exclusive interview, she said she entered the competition because she saw this as an opportunity to show the world the uncapped potential she has.

“This means I’m no longer a one-man show who’s trying to navigate this industry on my own. Instead, I’m now part of a team of like-minded and goal-driven people who can help me through this journey. It also means I’m a role model and can help women feel confident in their own skin,” she said.

She described the whole journey as a roller coaster of emotions, but that it was worth it.

She advised her peers and other women to be comfortable in their own skin and to find inspiration in themselves.
