Brackenhurst resident is one of Mrs SA top semi-finalists

Priscilla Faba has been announced as one of the Mrs South Africa top semi-finalist for 2021 out of a record number of entries received by the organisation during the pandemic.

The RECORD recently visited her at her house in Brackenhurst to chat about her journey with Mrs SA.

Get out of your comfort zone

Priscilla was announced virtually as a semi-finalist on March 5 on the Mrs South Africa Instagram page.

According to her, she has a list of goals, which she makes yearly and last year, one of the goals was to do something out of her comfort zone.

“I saw the Mrs SA entries and decided to enter,” she said.

Priscilla told the RECORD she is one of those people who succeeds when things are hard or tough.

“When I am under pressure or being put on the spot, that is when I shine,” she said.

Her duty now as a semi-finalist is to approach partnerships.

She is also looking forward to the upcoming golf day, which she will attend with the other semi-finalists.

“Now, it is all about raising funds and community work, as well as giving back to the community and playing a positive role in other people’s lives,” she said.

Out of this whole experience, Priscilla loved the fact that she got to meet so many people and build new friendships with them.

“I am inspired by the different people I meet daily. The way they live their lives and the way they are trying to survive.”

Her mom, Keneiloe Nomganga, is one of the people who inspire her.

“She has been so amazing to me. Supporting and cheering for me from the sideline. I am so thankful for my mom.

“If I walk away as the title winner, it will be a big privilege for me. It will mean a lot, and I will have a lot of questions for myself like what is it that I can do and not about what I can gain? I want to be the reservoir of solutions for people. I want to transform and give hope to others,” she said.

Priscilla’s background

Priscilla was born and raised in Qwa-Qwa in the Free State.

“I am a village girl,” she said. She has a sister and a half brother.

She was raised by a single mother and that is why she understands what it feels like to go hungry or to not have sanitary pads or school clothes.

She was bullied in school and that is why she wants to create awareness around bullying and show the world how strong she grew and show victims that there is hope and a way out.

She is an open book, and many won’t believe you when you tell them she is an introvert.

Priscilla has been married to her best friend, Shawn, for 15 years and they have three children, a daughter and a twin son and daughter.

“I am one lucky woman and mother. My family has just been the best support system ever.”
