The best of winter binge watching

Joubert highlights the following shows that should be on your binge list in the coming months

Never before have so many people been at home all doing the exact same thing; clicking ‘next episode.’
And, as the cooler months loom closer, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be doing any real-life socialising for the foreseeable future, we’ll be relying on our TVs to not only entertain us but to keep us sane.

“Whether you live alone, with your partner or you have kids who need attention, we all need a little bit of time just to sit back, relax, and for lack of a better word, binge,” said Skyworth brand manager Jaco Joubert.

Joubert highlights the following shows that should be on your binge list in the coming months

On Netflix:

Ozark:

Season three of this top Netflix Original Series is out, making this show officially binge-able. It follows a financial adviser turned money-launderer who is forced to pack up his family and move to the Ozarks, where he must clean a huge sum of money for a dangerous cartel leader.

Dark, gritty, and full of surprisingly likable characters, it’s a great distraction.

Breaking Bad:

This award-winning series is available in its entirety – all five seasons – for your viewing pleasure. The show follows a science teacher who becomes a drug producer and dealer and of course, things don’t go as planned.

Nailed It!:

A cooking show with a difference, as amateur chefs with inconsistent baking backgrounds try to create masterpiece desserts with both inspiring and hilarious results.

Dead to me:

Overflowing with smart comedic writing, crisp visuals and more than its fair share of surprises. Season two airs in May.

Workin’ Moms:

It was a long wait, and a huge lag for fans who are envious of our neighbours to the north already finished with the new season, but Netflix has finally announced that Season four of this brilliantly relatable show will arrive on 6 May.

On Showmax:

Westworld:

Currently the most popular show on IMDB, Sci-Fi drama Westworld is a dark wild west odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the birth of a new form of life on Earth.

Mcmillions:

This gripping documentary series tells the story of the biggest scam in the history of fast food. It ran for over a decade, had links to organised crime and netted $24 million worth of illegal profits.

The Case Against Adnan Syed:

Eighteen years after he was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison, this true-crime investigation takes a fresh look into the case against Adnan Syed, who was convicted of the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee.

Insecure:

Created by A Black Lady Sketch Show executive producer Issa Rae and Black-ish producer Larry Wilmore, Insecure centres on friends Issa and Molly. The show has a 97 percent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics consensus hails Insecure as “an insightful, raunchy, and hilarious journey through the life of a twenty-something black woman that cuts through stereotypes with sharp wit and an effusive spirit.”

The Outsider:

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King following police detective Ralph Anderson, who is still grieving the recent death of his own son when the body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson is found in the Georgia woods.

If you’re worried about night-time watching and the blue light emitted from the screen, there’s no need to be, because, Skyworth’s S9A OLED TV is easy on the eyes.
OLED doesn’t need a backlight, thereby minimising the harm of blue-light hazard and making it the best choice for your family, especially the little ones.

You’ll also want the best possible picture quality when you’re indulging in some serious series watching. One of the S9A features that’s really created a buzz is the Chameleon AI PQ Extreme. Joubert explained it as a picture quality improvement technology based on the PQ chip.

“It uses AI technology to search, recognise and reconstruct image objects, therefore improving the picture quality precisely.”
