Young go-getter heads to the States

She is young, but has dynamite visions for herself.

GROWING up she dreamed of owning a hotel, but destiny had other plans for Xolile Sibiya.

The 21-year-old from Walkerville established a sewing business named Glanx Creations to create her own income.

She said the main reason she dived into this business was to prove to her mother she can take care of herself.

Xolile’s mother, Gladys Sibiya, who is a qualified seamstress, helps her manage the business.

The business was founded at the beginning of the year and she bought three industrial machines, which makes it easier to get the work done in time.

A leap of faith

Despite business being a bit slow at the beginning, Xolile decided to resign from her day-to-day job to fully commit to her business.

“After resigning, I saw my business taking another step, I pride myself on this because only a few of my mates my age can do what I did,” said Xolile.

She is heading to the United States of America at the end of November to further her hospitality course and she told the COURIER when she returns she will promote her sewing business on so many levels.

Why sewing?

Xolile said all she wanted was a business which will be easy to handle and sewing is such a business.

When her mother offered to work with her, she capitalised on the opportunity.

She does designs and administration while her mother does the sewing part and they respect each.

They make traditional, sports and suits wear they pride themselves on the level of service they offer.

The next step

Xolile wishes to hire more than 200 young people in her business to create unemployment.

She said going to the States won’t stop her business from running, but will help it to grow.

“All I want is to see my business out there in the world and to inspire other young people from the south.

“As young people, we need to stop asking for favours. We need to work to get what we want,” she said.
