10 THE April meeting for the Probus Club will be held at the Reading Country Club on April 10 from 11am. Probus is a club for retirees and semi-retirees to join together to stimulate thought, interest and participation in activities at a time of life when horizons are narrowing and opportunities to make new friends are limited. The guest speaker will be Dr Bev Rhind, who will be talking about herbal remedies for animals. 11 CALLING all golfers to join Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Centre on their golf day, Tee for Two, on April 11 at Reading Country Club. The format for the day is a betterball Stableford at R2 000 per four-ball, which includes a R40 halfway voucher and prize-giving dinner. Tee off times are from 10am to 12.16pm. 11 THE SA Military History Society gets together again on April 11 at 8pm at the auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the zoo). The first event for the evening is the AGM followed by the main lecture on “The real Georg von Trapp: from War Hero to Sound of Music Patriarch” by Nick Cowley. The society holds meetings with lectures on the second Thursday of each month, at which a wide variety of topics of military historical interest are discussed. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands and enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture. 8 STEPFAMILY enrichment course will provide practical, realistic solutions to issues that stepfamilies face. This course will help couples who are married, soon-to-be-married or living together and dating couples with children from a previous relationship. It is presented by Ron L Deal, who is a world-leading expert in the field of stepfamily enrichment and is facilitated by members of the Alberton Methodist Church who have successfully raised stepchildren. The course will be hosted at Alberton Methodist Church every Wednesday from May 8 to June 19 from 7pm to 9pm.
