A tribute to music legends

Gone Too Soon – The Gents will delight audiences old and young as it celebrates the powerhouse male singers that became legends through their music over the past few decades.

IN celebration of her 25th anniversary in the entertainment industry, Collett Dawson, of The CoLab Network, is launching a series of concerts entitled Gone Too Soon. These are shows that will pay homage to iconic music legends who have left us before their time, but still live on through their music.

The first in this series, Gone Too Soon – The Gents, will be staged in spectacular fashion at The Lyric Theatre, at Gold Reef City, for four performances only, from Thursday, May 4, to Saturday, May 6.

Tribute is paid to a diverse selection of artists including Freddie Mercury, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Prince, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie and many others.

Gone Too Soon – The Gents is being staged in memory of two South African legends, Matthew Stewardson and Gugu Zulu, both close friends of Dawson, and whose untimely deaths inspired the concept. A fitting medley of South Africa’s own legends who are no longer with us is included in the show.

Direct from New York and taking centre stage will be the talented Broadway and West End star and international recording artist MiG Ayesa.

Ayesa was catapulted into stardom through the global reality television series Rock Star: INXS, where he went through to the final three.

He has a close affinity with South Africa and was last here ten years ago when he joined the South African cast for the rehearsals of the international tour of We Will Rock You.

With vibrant arrangements by the world-class creative team from Bluberry Entertainment, Kurt Herman and Tima Reece, and a dynamic live band led by music director Llewellyn George, audiences will be thrilled out of their seats by instantly recognisable hits like Man in the Mirror, Hallelujah, Unchained Melody, Everything She Wants and tons more.

Gone Too Soon – The Gents will be at The Lyric Theatre, at Gold Reef City, for four performances only – Thursday, May 4, at 20:00, Friday, May 5, at 20:00 and Saturday, May 6, at 15:00 and 20:00.

Bookings: www.goldreefcity.co.za, call the Lyric Theatre box office on 011 248 5000 or book through Computicket.
