Hero’s welcome for Quad riders

Quads 4 Quads returning on October 9.

AFTER a long journey from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng some 600 quad bikers will arrive at Carnival City.

These quad and two wheel motorcycle riders, including quadriplegic and paraplegic riders will end their journey which started on Thursday September 29. This is the 13th edition of the annual Quads 4 Quads mass ride which will end at Carnival City.

The event raises money for Quads 4 Quads – QASA and over R7 million should be raised by the time they arrive back in Boksburg.

Each rider has to endure some 250km over eight hours per day towards Ballito and then return to Boksburg.

Ari Seirlis, the CEO of QASA, as well as other well-known quadriplegics and paraplegics, will be riding adapted bikes. This will be the 12th time Seirlis is participating.

Quads 4 Quads is not a race, but a family ride which encourages everyone to get involved, whether they’re helping at the daily rest stops or joining the riders off-road. The race represents the spirit of QASA and quadriplegics everywhere in their firm belief that having a physical disability does not affect their ability to endure and to be the best that they can be.

Carnival City looks forward to welcoming the riders home on Sunday, October 9 and encourages the community to come down to give the riders a hero’s welcome.
