Tumi Morake signs under new management

Tumi has managed to keep a firm footing as one of a handful of successful female comedians on the corporate and commercial scene.

South Africa’s “First Lady of Comedy”, Tumi Morake, has taken to social media to announce the news that she is now under new management.

“With growth comes reinvention and new ventures! I’m excited to be a part of the Blu Blood family,” says Tumi.

The comedienne has signed on with talent and event management company, Blu Blood, who will take on the exclusive management of her career. “We are so pleased to welcome Tumi to the family. We have her best interests at heart and we are excited for what the future holds for her,” says Blu Blood’s CEO Shaaista Osman.

With a career spanning over 10 years and with numerous nominations and awards under her belt, Tumi Morake continues to be a formidable force in the industry, a fact proven by her most recent win of Best Comedian at the 2016 YOU Spectacular Awards. Since the beginning her comedy career in smoky clubs in 2006, she has steadily grown into one of SA’s most sought-after comedians.

Tumi has managed to keep a firm footing as one of a handful of successful female comedians on the corporate and commercial scene. Her edgy and unpredictable brand of comedy has wowed audiences around the globe. She has shared the stage with the likes of David Kau, Marc Lottering, Barry Hilton and Chris Forrest and has earned her place as headliner in comedy festivals such as the Kings & Queens of Comedy.

Morake has also had some critical recognition thrown her way, from being named one of The Free State Province’s Icons, to the Entertainer of the Year at the 2012 Speakers of Note Award.

The Tarantino of comedy, Tumi’s crowning glories have been her nominations for the coveted Comic of the Year at the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Comic’s Choice Awards. She is a recipient of the Mboko Women In The Arts Award for Excellence in Comedy 2013. Last year saw her nominated in the Glamour Woman Of The Year Awards. She was recently voted You Spectacular Favourite Comedian.

Tumi, in true multi-tasking woman style, has channelled her comedy into writing, acting and producing. She will have her cake and eat it, and even have seconds, because she can.

Blu Blood is run by power couple Osman and Shaaista Osman, who have combined their expertise, experience and enthusiasm as the pillars of this lifestyle and management brand.

With a select and specialised team, Blu Blood’s personalised service is key and paramount to business success.
