*JOHANNESBURG Hiking Club monthly slide show to be held on Tuesday, June 14, at 19:30, titled ‘Ruwenzori’s – the Cinderella of Africa’s Three Equatorial Mountains’ by Dawid de Wet. The Mountains of the Moon lie on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and straddles the Equator. The Ruwenzori’s is the least hiked of the East African mountains and pollution and traffic is less of a problem. Combine the climb with a safari in Uganda (mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions and the Nile River). Greenside Primary School. R25 includes refreshments. *SOUTH Africa Military History Society. The meeting planned for June 9 will be held in the Auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the zoo) at 20:00. The SA Military History Society holds meetings with lectures on the second Thursday of each month, with a wide variety of topics on military historical interest discussed. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture.
