AS the only golf estate south of Johannesburg, Eye of Africa has distinguished itself as a unique and prestigious development with its prime draw card a Greg Norman-designed golf course. The past few months saw the developers investing a further R100-million in infrastructure development, making this one of the most sought after property investments in the area.

The year has proved a busy one for this residential and golf estate, with 150 sales recorded in the past 12 months alone. Kent Gush, a well-known residential property specialist, attributes the upswing in sales to the innovative marketing strategies which have been made possible by the fact that the business model is not dependent on bank finance; nor has it relied on pre-sales in order for construction on infrastructure to begin.

Going forward, potential buyers will be able to see the finished product and make an informed decision when purchasing at the Eye of Africa. Buyers are able to choose from several stand sizes, positions and elevations on which to build their own home, or they can select a ready built townhouse or cluster unit. Although there is a list of preferred builders, homeowners can appoint their own builder and architect.

There are currently nearly 300 completed homes at the Eye of Africa, with a further 200 homes under construction. Stone Quarter, a cluster development priced from R2 490 000 is attracting young families and professionals wishing to live in a gated and secure golf estate.

St Georges, The Belvedere and Beaconsfield are three of the recently released freehold villages where the bulk of the services are already complete. These new releases comprise 246 stands with sizes ranging from 700sqm to 1 700sqm. They afford homeowners magnificent north-facing views of the ridge and as far as the Johannesburg skyline.

Stands are well priced from R790 000 and nearly 100 purchasers have already taken transfer of their stands and are about to commence with the construction of their homes.

Views of the mountains, valleys and internal lakes from inside the estate are truly spectacular. Careful landscaping has ensured that the indigenous veld and grasses have been retained, and naturally occurring rock has been used as part of the construction wherever possible. The result is an authentic bushveld experience, enhanced by the presence of small game species.

Eye of Africa is just one of the developments which are breathing new life into the southern suburbs and its residents value their proximity to the newly opened Mall of the South on the corner of Kliprivier and Swartkoppies roads. The mall features an array of much-loved local and international brands as well as a restaurant promenade; a stunning destination for food lovers featuring a walkway with a variety of new culinary experiences.

The growing interest in other residential estates in the area – such as Meyersdal Eco Estate, Meyersdal Nature Estate and Aspen (all of which are fully occupied) – points to the desirability of estate living in the south, and is a sign that the demand for secure properties in these suburbs is on the rise.

As such, Eye of Africa’s infrastructure development couldn’t have come at a better time. With a number of new features planned for the estate (including a luxurious clubhouse, a new restaurant and resort pool), it will continue to offer golf estate living with a difference, bringing together convenience, country living and exclusivity in one distinctive residential offering.
