Emperors lines up talent

Emperors Palace has a riveting entertainment line up confirmed for the next three months.

The Palace of Dreams has finalised its festive season entertainment line-up embracing both local and international talent to delight the young and old.

AfroGroove Sunday Chillas showcases urban jazz tunes in the Marc Antony Cigar Lounge at 16:00 every Sunday. The sessions are hosted by Movi M, a nominee for the best African jazz album at the South African Traditional Music Awards (Satma). Entry is free but no u.18’s are allowed.

The Barnyard Theatre will be screening selected Rugby World Cup games as well as offering a drink and a boerewors or prego roll to those who would like to support their team. Hooters will be showing the two final games of the Rugby World Cup on October 30 and 31, on an outdoor screen that will see a section of the parking area transformed into a rugby supporter’s hub with live entertainment. The area will have drink and food stations. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are R60 per person or R100 per person for both days.

The WPT® Emperors Palace Poker Classic returns to the Home of Poker for the fifth consecutive season. Poker enthusiasts can play their way into the main event by entering the satellite tournaments that are hosted daily until October 29 in the Gladiators Poker Room, with the official tournament running from October 23-31 in the Theatre of Marcellus. The Simon and Garfunkel Story will be on stage from November 18 to December 6 in the Theatre of Marcellus. A full live band will perform all the hits, including Mrs. Robinson. Ticket prices start from R165 per person.

The Garden of Lights will open from December 3 to January 4. The lights spectacle will be in the gardens at the D’oreale Grande hotel. Entrance to the garden is free but a voluntary donation to a local charity is welcome. The garden will be open daily from 19:00 to 22:00, weather permitting. Juanita du Plessis will be performing a selection of her greatest hits and songs from her brand-new album, Toe staan die wêreld stil, in the Theatre of Marcellus at 20:00 on December 12. Tickets are available from R130 per person.

Comedian, Riaad Moosa, will make a stop on his mini tour at the Theatre of Marcellus on December 13 at 20:00. Tickets are available from R200 per person at Shoprite, Checkers and Checkers Hyper countrywide.

Dru Hill, the 1990’s R and B group, known for the hits In My Bed and Never Make A Promise will be performing on the Centre Court stage from December 18-19. Tickets are available from R 400 per person at Computicket.

The ABBA show will be on stage at the Theatre of Marcellus from January 22 to February 7. Fans of the Swedish pop group can enjoy a full-scale theatrical production featuring 2.5 hours of live performances. Tickets are available from R220 for adults and R120 for kids under 15 years.
