Six years direct imprisonment for cables thieves

The two suspects were caught inside a house with 15 meters of cable, a bolt cutter and hacksaw.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Two thieves, convicted of business breaking and cable theft, were sentenced to six years direct imprisonment by the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Tuesday, September 15.

An on duty security officer who was patrolling the Ormonde area on Friday, December 12, 2014, saw an open window and heard voices from a house that was usually quiet during the day and immediately called for police assistance on his radio. SAPS members and the security officer entered the house and found the two thieves in possession of 15 metres of cables, a bolt cutter and a hacksaw.

Booysens SAPS thanked Detective Sergeant Edward Rangwanasha and all the police members involved in the successful investigation and subsequent conviction of the two men.
