JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Lilletta Tinarelli (69) celebrated 50 years in business on September 1, with her salon Lilletta Italian Hair Stylists in Main Street, Rosettenville.

She remember clearly when, at the age of 19, she received the salon as a gift from her mother, Seby Masia. “This has been a great journey of my life. If asked to do this again, I will with pleasure. My mother gave me this gift, 50 years ago. I want to thank everyone who supported me, especially my customers, they were great throughout these years and my husband, Salvatore. There have been ups and downs however, overall, I have been very happy here. This was great,” explained Lilletta.

Tanya Harris, one of her long serving customers, praised Lilletta for her tenacity and professionalism. “I lived in the South for 15 years (she now lives in Roodepoort) and I met Lilletta in 2000. Since then I have been using her services. She knows exactly what to with my hair and my hair is amazing because of her. I come to this salon religiously since then. I am proud of her and this milestone she has reached. Because I am visually impaired, Lilletta has a special mirror for me. I want to thank her for the great service,” she said.

Unfortunately Lilletta is leaving the salon in Main Street, and it will now be under a new management. She is down-scaling and going to open a salon in Glenanda with a friend.
