Operation Night Light yields positives

The operation targeted places of entertainment in the Johannesburg CBD, Rosettenville and Turffontein areas.

FEMALE members of the JMPD Specialised Service and Bylaw Management Unit held Operation Night Light recently.

The operation targeted places of entertainment in the Johannesburg CBD, Rosettenville and Turffontein areas.

The officers visited 11 pubs, Emergency Management Services (EMS) staff issued fire safety compliance notices and four of the pubs were closed down for being non-compliant in terms of emergency management bylaws.

“A pub in Jules Street which had a license that had expired in 2010, had all its alcohol confiscated and an inventory list was compiled of all the stock taken. Operation Night Light went well without any incident reported,” said Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, JMPD spokesman.
