Nedbank Cup final to entertain spectators

Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns will face each other at this year’s Nedbank Cup finals.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – There will be plenty of action during the Nedbank Cup this weekend when Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns face each other.

The match will be played in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, May 16.

The young warriors of Ajax Cape Town could be the first team outside of Gauteng to lift the trophy since the inception of Nedbank’s sponsorship. On the other hand, the veterans of Mamelodi Sundowns will use their experience to try and be the first team to win the competition for the second time.

The festivities of the day are due to start when gates open at 11:00, way before kick-off, with action attractions planned to ensure that friends and family experience memorable moments beyond the soccer field.

The Nedbank Cup Fan Zone will consist of games and prizes up for grabs, including smart phones, soccer kits and Nedbank Cup memorabilia. Fans will also have an opportunity to take part in penalty shoot-outs and soccer skill challenges and workshops, where the most passionate and committed individuals will win limited edition merchandise.

Those who arrive early will also have an opportunity to walk through a replica changing room where they can take pictures with the Nedbank trophy while receiving a digital team talk from Bafana Bafana head-coach Shakes Mashaba. The area has been specifically designed to enable fans to experience what it feels like to be a player on match day.

There will also be plenty of entertainment for children, including face painters and much more.

Award winners Zahara and KO will take to the stage and provide exhilarating performances from 13:00.

The spectacular opening ceremony will include a first for football; the Nedbank Cup Football Fan Fashion which will see soccer fans parading on the field. Superfans representing the 16 PSL teams will be dressed by 16 of South Africa’s globally renowned fashion designers and will be giving the tournament’s finalists the guard of honour.

And just when fans think they will have time to catch their breath during half time, 2015 MetroFM’s most awarded entertainer Casper Nyovest will rock the stage.

Gates open at 11:00. Tickets are on sale from Computicket and Shoprite Checkers countrywide. Prices range from R40 to R 80 for adults and R10 for children u.12 years. Fans are encouraged to arrive early so they can take full advantage of the perfect outing with family and friends.
