IN May the City of Johannesburg will be exploding in a world of colour as the festival kicks off for yet another year of joy.
On Friday May 1, Johannesburg will see the return of the Holi One Colour Festival. The event will take place at Huddle Park Golf & Recreation, Club Street, Linksfield.
Sharing the same message of hope and positivity as the Hindu holiday of Holi, this non-religious festival aims to unite thousands in an event that blends music, dance, visuals and performance art.
Party-goers dressed in white soon find themselves united through a rainbow of colours as every hour on the hour, a countdown continues, signalling the throwing of brightly coloured, eco-friendly powder that fills the air. Along with powder in five different colours, food and drinks will also be on sale, while a host of facilities will be provided to ensure that revellers are kept safe and comfortable for the duration of the festival.
This year’s line-up promises to be even bigger and better than ever before, with a selection of local and international talents in the electronic dance music scene taking to the stage. Setting just the right tone for this year’s festival are your MC’s Morgan Beatbox and K@$his King along with the following artists: DJ Fresh, Mark Stent, Ricardo Da Costa, Essential Groove, Vin GrooVin, and others.
Tickets start at R250 per person for general access, with special colour packages also offered at R350 per person for general access plus five bags of powder. Tickets can be purchased via Nutickets (https://holione.nutickets.co.za/JHB2015).
Doors open at 12:00, and the celebrations will continue until 22:00. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the festival but may not be brought in from outside.
