ANC congratulates the class of 2014

Education remains the most critical tool which can change their circumstances and those of their country.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The African National Congress and its Congress Alliance Organisations join the nation in sending its hearty congratulations to Matric Class of 2014.

Their success in the final assessments for Grade 12 is a success for the country as a whole; building on the foundations that have been laid by so many educators, parents, policy makers and the learners themselves, and society in general… in pursuit of education and knowledge.

An apex priority of our government and undisputed catalyst for our nation’s development.

As we salute the class of 2014, the ANC and its Congress Alliance Organisations are encouraged by the spirit that the youth has demonstrated as we enter the second phase of our NDR in contributing and paying a tribute to 20 Years of Democracy.

They further proved that they emulated the Youth of 1976 by adopting a new curriculum with vigour to ensure that nothing will stop them to reach their goals and they are combat ready to respond to any challenges facing them as future leaders of our country.

They have made Gauteng proud by ensuring that the majority of the performing-well districts are in the province.

As a Gauteng province, our learners, teachers, policy makers, parents and all relevant stakeholders have adopted the Ten Point Plan by:

Focus on skills development through education, training and mentorship in colleges, schools and vocational training in order to build the economy that has beneficiation to all levels of society.

This will enhance our government vision of ensuring that we speed – up the socio-economic transformation agenda for a prosperous South Africa.

In order to create a better future for our Youth, and to realise our nation’s possibility to be exemplar of African and global progress and development, much more must be done to deliver on the call by successive ANC conferences, call for improved quality, access and equity in education.

Our government has already done much in the quest to ensure that in South Africa, education is free, compulsory and universal for all learners.

The deliberate and focus interventions by our government including the implementation of the curriculum of a very high standard are indicators of our resolve to give practical expression to improve the quality of the education outcomes.

The ANC and its Congress Alliance organisations is mindful of the fact that many of our students were not successful in these examinations and urge them to remain resolute, maintain their optimism and where they qualify, take up the opportunity offered for Supplementary Examination in February and March 2015. Education remains the most critical tool which can change their circumstances and those of their country.
