Women are regarded as pillars of strength at home and within the communities. They are mothers, daughters and sisters and they prepare people to be better in later years.

Women in Music is a concept founded by band leader Portia Sibiya. The band raises funds and gives exposure to woman musicians. This group comprises exclusively of women.

Following a successful career in music which spans over eight years Portia Bassist Sibiya has taken the initiative to impart some of her experience and talent with women of South Africa. A move that’s often spoken off however not quite implemented.

Portia Sibiya a doer by nature took the hard task of mobilizing the country’s finest female band and ensuring that they all come together on what would be deemed as a rare occasion as all of them will be the centrepiece of the show at once, with their combined presence and the bigger picture of setting up a music school, this is sure to be an amazing pre-launch of the school while raising funds towards the realization of this vision with the execution of holding workshops in disadvantaged communities, correctional facilities, rehabilitation centres and children’s homes.

The permanent location of the school is yet to be announced, however that will go hand in hand with the road shows and activations that’s that Women in Music is going to be hosting around the country to raise more awareness about the project.
