Welkom resident wins R1 million in Slots Factor tournament

Also from Gold Reef City Casino, Lynette Archer came in eighth place, getting her share in the winnings.

JOHANNESBURG – Take 90 slots enthusiasts from 14 destinations around the country, transport them to Witbank for the chance to become a millionaire in five minutes, and what have you got?

A weekend packed with anticipation, action and adrenalin, not to mention a healthy dose of elation for the lucky winner of R1 million in the second annual Slots Factor tournament from Tsogo Sun.

A resident from Jan Cillierspark in the Free State representing Goldfields Casino walked away an instant millionaire after this weekend’s final in Tsogo Sun’s Slots Factor tournament, which saw over 18 000 slots fans buy in for just R100 to secure the opportunity to win their share of a guaranteed prize pool of R1.8 million. The final was the culmination of eight weeks of fast-paced action in Tsogo Sun’s 14 casino and entertainment destinations around the country, with 90 finalists competing to clock up the highest score on the leaderboard in just five minutes of play.

Also from Gold Reef City Casino, Lynette Archer came in eighth place, getting her share in the winnings.

“The Ridge Casino in eMalahleni was a great venue for this year’s final, and the Casino team made sure it was a fun and action-packed weekend, from arrival on Friday to the final heats on Saturday afternoon, with great camaraderie between all the finalists. It was a fantastic event thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, with a little bit of Vegas coming to eMalahleni,” said Steve Hight, Director of Gaming for Tsogo Sun.

A total of R1,25 million in prize money was given away on Saturday night (September 27), with R1 million going to a Goldfields Casino patron, R100 000 to Johannes Botha and R50 000 to Erica Cain, both from Mossel Bay, representing Garden Route Casino. The balance of the R1,25 million prize money was awarded to the top 10-placed finalists. This follows the R550 000 already given away in the semi-finals last week, bringing the total prize money to R1,8 million.

The champion is thrilled about her winnings and plans to invest in a home at the coast for her retirement. “This is exactly what we needed. I am still in shock, but now we can pay off a bond and be a little more secure in our retirement. I am ecstatic!” says the winner of R1 million.

The 14 casinos participating in the Slots Factor tournament were Montecasino, Gold Reef City, Silverstar, Suncoast, Hemingways, The Ridge, Emnotweni, Golden Horse, Goldfields, Mykonos, The Caledon, Blackrock, Queens and Garden Route Casino.

“We were delighted to be able to give our patrons at each and every one of our properties an equal chance to win the R1 million, which is an opportunity that is only possible through a groupwide tournament such as Slots Factor,” comments Hight.
