Mr Alec Barnard, a 73-year-old pensioner and resident of Reuven Complex in Reuven, was injured while crossing a street on the corner of Webb and Kliprivier streets, only a few meters away from where he lives.

Mr Barnard was admitted to the South Rand Hospital for injuries sustained. He said that he went to the garage shop just opposite from Reuven Complex to buy pre-paid electricity, and while crossing the road at the traffic lights he saw a car fast approaching and tried to run for safety, he slipped and bumped his head against the curb of the road. That was the last he could remember, he became unconscious. He regained consciousness in hospital. Apart from minor injuries he sustained injuries on his forehead and above the hip.

His wife, Mrs Kobie Barnard, would like to know what exactly happened that day on Saturday May 17 at about 17:00. She appeals to anyone who witnessed the accident to contact her on her cellphone 073 786 7715; she lives at Reuven Complex Unit 97, Reuven. She can be contacted any time of the day.
