I am a resident in Ward 124 and I have a few concerns regarding the current ward councillor, Mr Radebe. The ward is in an unbearable state.
Refuse, long grass, and prostitutes are claiming the streets of Turffontein, and our ward councillor, Sidney Radebe, is allowing it to happen. Most of the time our streets are without lights because of cable theft, supported by tenants from hijacked and illegally occupied buildings, dumping of mattresses on every corner from Great Britain Street down to Donnelley Street, running water, service lanes turned into crime hot spots for drug peddlers, used as toilets. How can an ANC controlled ward, a city under Radebe, a province and country under the ANC, allow a once middle class suburb to fall into an urban slum. Buildings are getting hijacked, Rotanda Park cannot be used because it looks worse than a dumping site, and our children don’t even have a safe place to play anymore. And where is our councillor, who made so many promises about fixing the area up? Nowhere. What a horror story to tell. This is really puzzling to me as a resident. I really feel that the councillor does not care about us as a community. This is really unacceptable. Honestly; I’m really disgusted and disappointed!
