R 45 000 robbery in Alberton

Suspects held security to the ground and robbed the owner of the vehicle of R45 000

Alberton – A robbery in the car park of Terrace Building, Eaton Terrace, New Redruth, Alberton occurred at 13:20 on Tuesday November 26 when suspects approached a man in a parked Toyota Corolla and made off with R45 000 cash.

The driver of the vehicle, Mr Ndlovu, made the withdrawal at around 11:45 from  FNB in Greenstone Mall, Edenvale and drove to New Redruth to meet with his agent in Terrace Building.

Mr Ndlovu met his marketing agent to discuss business and as they were talking they heard a strange noise and then shortly after, Mr Ndlovu’s nephew, who was waiting for him in the parked vehicle,  phoned him in a panic and told him he’d been robbed.

Apparently, the suspicious vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, drove through into the parking area of Eaton Terrace Building with five men and the security guard on duty told them, “There is no available parking space.”

The five suspects left the parking area only to enter again once another vehicle had exited making a parking place for another car. The armed suspects forced the security guard to the ground, while another suspect smashed the window of the Toyota Corolla, taking the cash from Mr Ndlovu’s nephew. They also stole two cellphones, a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy Tab.

The suspects fled the scene, leaving a glove on the ground of the parking area.

The case is being investigated.
