JOHANNESBURG: Fine music and laughs aplenty: Michael de Pinna and Johan Laas star in “Feeling Good” for four shows only at Beefcakes.
Jozi diners are in for a treat when two of SA’s most prolific performers and artistic giants take to the stage, together, for a limited run of four consecutive Sunday nights from October 13 to November 3.
A new cabaret-cum-supper club production “Feeling Good”, will be staged at Joburgs hottest eatery, Beefcakes in Illovo, providing an evening of music and laughter, designed especially for these two household names.
Michael de Pinna, singer, actor and classy comic, loved by South Africans as Vodacom’s “Yebo Gogo” guy, joins with award-winning music supremo and renowned producer Johan Laas; his recent achievements include arranging for the popular “Idols” TV show. The show has been directed by Maralin Vanrenen, recipient of a SAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions in stage and television.
While musical director Johan tickles the keyboard with his inimitable flair, Michael will delight with a range of characters, songs and some irreverent humour. Audiences can enjoy renditions of Michael Buble’s’ Meglio Stasera, You’re just too good to be true, Feeling Good, Rocky Horror Medley, Send In The Clowns, The Great pretender, Suspicious minds, and many more.
A highlight of the performance will be De Pinna in full costume – “coaxed out of drag retirement, my dear”, with a laugh-a-minute medley of “manly” tunes.
The upmarket suburb of Illovo is the home of Beefcakes, Joburgs fashionable eatery and cabaret venue.
