Alberton racers raring to go after winter break

After the winter break, Alberton racers Rob van Aarle and Bruce van Niekerk are raring to go.

Alberton’s racers will be competing in round four of the Inland Historic Tour at Zwartkops Raceway on August 24.

Meyersdal’s Rob van Aarle will be competing in the Evapco Historic Pursuit category and will be looking for a repeat of the form that took him to victory on his last outing at Red Star Raceway.

Van Aarle said the Escort is now very reliable, and he looks forward to the race at Zwartkops.

Bruce van Niekerk of Brackenhurst will be competing in the Formula Libre category in his ALS Omega ’91.

Bruce is also looking forward to a good outing at Zwartkops and hoping to close the gap to championship leader Kennedy Torres of Edenvale. Kennedy leads Class C, and Bruce leads Class D.

“Blane de Meillion of Brackenhurst, who also competes in the Formula Libre category, will unfortunately not be able to take part in the Zwartkops round. The Gauteng Formula Association have a treat in store for their drivers and pit crew for the Zwartkops round,” explained Van Niekerk.

He said they have arranged for Chantelle Schmidlin, a contestant in the SA Master Chef series, to pop in and prepare a breakfast for the Formula Libre drivers and pit crew.
