TS Galaxy Football Club compete in U13 friendly

Youth development in football prioritised in Turffontein.

Professional football club TS Galaxy played in an U13 friendly on August 8, at Cambrians Hockey Club in Turffontein.

Local teams ATY Galaxy, SOSFC, Champions and Hammers FC were the teams that joined together to form one team to play against Galaxy.

This type of exposure is unprecedented for youth football in the area, as no professional team has visited the area with the purpose of scouting talent.

The coach of the TS Galaxy U13 team, Nkosipile Ndlovu, outlined that youth football development is a priority for his team.

“We play many friendlies to try and scout talent, especially in areas where players have less exposure to these opportunities.”

Mandla Xaba, the manager of ATY Galaxy, spoke about the importance of what he and his colleagues are trying to do for youth football in the area.

“After we took over Cambrians, we had to refurbish the grounds as there is a lot of vandalism. We want to get this place locked so we can clean it up and use it often while keeping the pitch in good condition,” Xaba said.

“So far we have Solly Kramer in Turffontein as a sponsor, which has helped us a lot,” he continued.

Tebogo Molapo, Sunday FC coach, wanted to thank TS Galaxy for attending the friendly.

“For a professional team to visit us and allow our boys to gain exposure and maybe get scouted is a great opportunity for them,” Tebogo said.

Help is needed at the Cambrians football grounds to aid youth football. Anyone interested in assisting may contact Mandla Xaba on 072 206 7417.
