Spartans Karate members excel in belt promotion

Spartans Karate members showcased their skills and sportsmanship at a karate grading event held in Glenharvie Combine School.

Spartans Karate recently celebrated a significant milestone as its members achieved promotion to various belt rankings at a grading event held in Glenharvie Combined School.

Martin Venter, public relations officer of Spartans, revealed that the grading process was conducted under the discerning eye of Shihan Kruben Pillay, an esteemed figure in the martial arts community holding an impressive 6th Dan black belt.

“This ensured that the assessments were conducted with the utmost precision and adherence to the highest standards.

“All members underwent a rigorous evaluation of their karate skills, including proficiency in basics, kata, and kumite. Those who demonstrated mastery in all these aspects were duly rewarded with a higher belt rank,” remarked Martin Venture, reflecting on the intensive grading process.

“These accomplished individuals have been dedicating themselves to their training at the dojos, which have been integral parts of their respective communities for over three decades. Established by Shihan Kruben Pillay in 1989 in Westonaria and Carletonville, and in 2018 in Winchester Hills by Sensei Enzo Pillay, Spartans Karate’s mission is clear: to cultivate members who embody the highest standards of martial arts proficiency. This commitment extends to individuals as young as five years old, all the way up to adults.

“By providing comprehensive training programmes, we ensure that each member has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of age or experience level,” said Venter.
