WATCH: Chad inspiring journey to help Kyle Dally battle stage four skin cancer

In a feat of unmatched determination, Chad Markgraaf from Alberton embarked on an extraordinary mission – running 100 marathons in 100 days to ease the burden of stage four skin cancer treatment costs for Kyle Dally, a young man fighting an uphill battle.

In a remarkable display of human compassion and endurance, Chad Markgraaf from Alberton embarked on an extraordinary mission to run 100 marathons in 100 days to support Kyle Dally, a young man facing stage four skin cancer.

The overwhelming financial burden of his life-saving medications, a staggering monthly cost of R50 000 has made Kyle’s battle even more arduous. As Chad laces up his running shoes day after day, he is not only covering physical distance but also bridging the gap between kindness and necessity.

“Kyle’s health has taken a drastic hit because of his inability to afford the crucial medications. New lumps have emerged, underscoring the urgency of his situation, leading to more medical interventions such as positron emission tomography (PET) scans.

“We are still awaiting the results of the scan. We truly need a financial breakthrough for Kyle,” shared Chad.
The journey was not without its own set of challenges for Chad. Balancing physical exertion with the demands of his life, including upcoming exams, has tested him mentally and physically.

“Last week was a bit of a challenging one. Not so much physically but mentally, as I have September exams coming up this week. I had to adjust my schedule to accommodate time for studying, which either meant starting earlier or finishing later in the evenings, but I could overcome the daily marathons,” Chad reflected.

His dedication has already carried him an impressive 2 500km on his journey, leaving just under 1 700km to go. With each step, he not only conquers the distance but also ignites hope for Kyle’s recovery. He looks forward to the valuable lessons and obstacles ahead, but his greatest anticipation is the potential breakthrough that Kyle so desperately needs.

By bringing attention to Kyle’s struggle and raising funds, Chad is organising a significant event scheduled for September 9 at St Declan’s School for Boys. This event is not only for avid runners; it promises entertainment, food, and stalls, making it an enjoyable day out for the whole community. Chad emphasizes, “Everyone is welcome.”

He also seeks sponsors for the remaining 30 marathons, welcoming anyone willing to contribute to this cause.
Chad’s journey received an unexpected boost when the Alberton Running Club and family friends generously sponsored two pairs of new running shoes for him. This gesture will undoubtedly provide him with the comfort and support needed to carry him through the rest of his endeavour.
