McDonald’s SA and Goliath Gaming will search for SA’s next FIFA gaming superstars

McDonald’s South Africa and Goliath Gaming announced they would search for SA’s next FIFA gaming superstars to join the Goliath Gaming Academy in Meyersdal.

As part of the search, they will recruit four young and aspiring FIFA gaming talents aged between 13 and 22.

Three of the four academy spots will be decided by having the contestants compete in a series of FIFA competitions held at selected McDonald’s stores across Johannesburg.

Whoever gets the most community votes will take the fourth academy spot. McDonald’s SA and Goliath Gaming look forward to unearthing Johannesburg’s hidden FIFA gems and providing them with the support and opportunities to up their game.

The academy’s goal is to provide opportunities to empower and upskill young gamers who display passion and promise, showing them what it takes to compete at the top level of FIFA in SA.

The search is open to aspiring FIFA gamers of all levels. They must have a passion for FIFA and want to take their gaming to the next level.

Julio ‘Beast’ Bianchi, the FIFA team captain for Goliath Gaming, was thrilled about the partnership with McDonald’s SA and looks forward to reaching more gamers across SA and empowering rising talent.

“I know first-hand how one opportunity can change your life. That is why I’m excited about the journey with McDonald’s SA and what it means for young, aspiring gamers in SA. The McDonald’s SA and Goliath Gaming Academy search is just the beginning. We have some exciting things in the pipeline for the months ahead,” said Bianchi.

The scouting process will comprise an online registration page. After rigorous vetting of all submissions by some of SA’s top FIFA players, the top 128 will go through a series of FIFA competitions on selected dates.

The four individuals will join Goliath Gaming for a time and work closely with the team to hone their skills. Goliath Gaming will provide them with a gaming console, gaming screen and gaming equipment. The internet connection will be improved during their time at the academy.

They’ll receive FIFA coaching from the Goliath Gaming FIFA team, be able to access the Goliath Gaming facilities and receive performance coaching from the team’s performance coach.

They will also be kitted out in official Goliath Gaming and McDonald’s SA co-branded merchandise to ensure they look fresh for their first foray into e-sports.
