Yvette is making her dreams come true

After two weeks of tough training Yvette Schlotfeldt was finally ready for the low kicks mode.

Yvette Schlotfeldt (42) fought in the WAKO Kickboxing African Continent Championships held in August in Benoni, walking away with two gold medals and a silver medal.

This has also been the first time in her career she had the opportunity to fight an extra mode called low kicks.

The champion, Yvette Schlotfeldt.

“I have never done this mode before. With so little time for preparation and my instructor Sarah O’Donnell being one of the referees at the championship, I knocked on the door of Apex South’s for extra help.”

Coaches Tiny Wilhelm Strauss and Ryan De Vasconcellos welcomed her with open arms and they made sure that she was ready for the championships.

De Vasconcellos set up extra days and times for Schlotfeldt to train.

“I trained three times a day and had a lot of help, especially from Simon as he called himself a life dummy that I could practice on. They got me ready in two weeks for my extra mode,” she explained.

Schlotfeldt won gold for light continuous and low kicks and silver for semi-contact, also known as point fighting.
“This is one of my days that I will never forget in my career,” she said.
