Mini-cricket festival in Gauteng

Gauteng KFC Mini-cricket held their annual festival.

Gauteng KFC Mini-Cricket held their annual festival on September 1 at Highlands North Boys’ High School.

Some 120 000 children are involved in KFC Mini-Cricket across the country, and 16 dedicated provincial KFC Mini-Cricket festivals are held annually.

These festivals see players from every corner of their respective provinces come together to get active by playing cricket.

These players are under the supervision of 120 coaches and educators, with BizHub Highveld player, Omphile Ramela, helping to coach them and passing on some of his wisdom.

The schools came from around Johannesburg.

Among them were Rosebank Primary and Fairways Primary from Johannesburg North, Robertsham Primary and Meredale Primary from Johannesburg South, Thabang Primary and Isaacson Primary from Soweto/Dobsonville, Everest Primary and St Theresa’s Primary from Johannesburg Central and Entuthukweni Primary School and Bosele Primary School from Kagiso.

The rules of the game are very simple.

Each player gets to bowl six balls and faces six balls and everyone gets a chance to field in each fielding position.

The format is ideal for introducing them to the game of cricket.

It allows for the participation of all of the players and maximises the fun that they will have during the day.

Schools and teams from across the country can get involved in the KFC Mini-Cricket kids tour with the Proteas by simply dialling *120*7535# or visiting kfc.co.za/minicricket to enter.

Entries close on September 16.
