National medals for karatekas

The club did exceptionally well and returned home with a total of 56 medals.

THE Cobras Shotokan Karate Club in Brackenhurst recently took part in the South African Shotokan Karate Academy’s national championship held in Cullinan.

The club did exceptionally well and returned home with a total of 56 medals won by the 26 students who took part.

Both Sensei Laurent Gaston-Bellegarde and Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde are very proud of the club’s achievements and also of the fact that Marelize Howard won the trophy for the best senior female of the tournament, Tiana Figueiredon is the best junior female and Michiel Jacobs the best junior male of the tournament.

Achievers are Alex Holm (one gold, one silver), Daniel van Wyk (one gold, one silver), Liana Gouveia (one gold, two bronze), Tiana Figueiredo (three gold), Bokamoso Makene (two gold), Sensei Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde (two gold), Hayden Fish (one silver, one bronze), Juan Crous (one gold, one silver), Joshua Wood (one gold, one bronze), Darshal Chinia (one silver), Michiel Jacobs (two gold, one silver), Kieran Fish (one gold, one silver, one bronze), Luisa Figueiredo (one gold, one silver), Sensei Laurent Gaston-Bellegarde (one gold), Reatlegile Moleleki (two silver), Linda Wood (two gold, one silver), Zita Gouveia (one gold, three silver, two bronze), Kaylee Beine (one silver, one bronze), Marelize Howard (four gold, two silver), Moagaesi Motlhodi (one bronze), Brandon Rossouw (one bronze) and Amy Howard (four gold, one bronze).

The Cobras Shotokan Karate Club train at Glenview Primary School in Brackenhurst on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
