Over 100 teams for Soccer Challenge

The iconic community tournament has become the focal point for discovering the country’s next big stars.

THE annual Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge is going from strength to strength and the 15th edition will see over 100 teams competing for bumper prize money.

The tournament will take place from December 1 to 29 at the Nike Football Training Centre in Soweto.

The iconic community talent identification tournament has become the focal point for discovering the country’s next big stars. Mondeor Meteors FC will be among the teams from across the country that will do battle for the honour of being crowned kasi football champions. Fans from across Gauteng are anticipating yet another exciting showcase of the finest talents from their communities as football fever hits the playing grounds of Soweto.

The festive season showpiece will see 104 teams competing in three categories: 56 teams in the main category, 32 teams in the u-17 category and 16 teams in the women’s category.

The prize money for the winners of this year’s tournament is as follows:

Tournament champions (men’s open category) – R100 000

Tournament champions (men’s u-17 category) – R20 000

Tournament champions (women’s open category) – R20 000
