Bumper Boxing 5 at Turffontein

The nine bout fighting bill will take place at Turffontein racecourse.

BOXING will take another step in its long-awaited rejuvenation of enhancing development in the sport when the Boxing 5 tournament will be presented on December 3.

The nine-bout fighting bill will take place at Turffontein racecourse and will start at 1pm.

Presented by Unleashed Sport Events, the tournament will take a new turn as they will be joined by partners Boxing 5, ClickaBet, Cell C and Phumelela in presenting a bumper bill for the up and coming young boxers.

The seasoned trainer, Manny Fernandes, has joined hands with Lionel Hunter, former boxer and Rocky Weinstein to promote mainly development boxing in order to provide more bouts for these boxers. The main bout will feature Clement Kamanga who will fight out of the Unleashed gymnasium from Lionel Hunter and Raymond Kapula from the BRD Boxing Academy having Manny Fernandes in his corner. The junior-welterweight bout will take place over eight rounds.

The undercard of the event will have Junior Assoya, from Rocky’s gymnasium take on Willis Baloyi from BRD Academy also over eight rounds in the junior-welterweight division.

Former South African welterweight champion Shaun Ness will be seen in a six rounder against Eric Mukadi, BRD gym. Rocky’s gymnasium will have their youngster Layten Gloss who will take a shot against Lesego Sekao over four rounds in the junior bantamweight division.

Paul Manxilana from the Unleashed gym will climb in the ring against Zimisele Magagula over six rounds in the featherweight division. The experienced Walter Dlamini, who now fights out of the Unleashed gym, will take on Dido Mukhanya in the middleweight division over six rounds.

The first three opening bouts will belong to Siphamandla Mkhambaphi and Gift Baaname (four rounds flyweight division), Siya Mabena (Unleahed gym) vs Jules Batale (four rounds junior-welterweight division) and Layolo Magenuke and Bongani Buthi (six rounds in the junior featherweight division).
