Gauteng Canoe Union hosted its annual award ceremony.

THE Gauteng Canoe Union hosted its annual award ceremony on May 27 at the Cradle Moon, in Muldersdrift.

Paddlers, both young and old, were awarded for their racing achievements over the past year, with trophies, provincial colours, as well as South African colours.

Morgan Ziervogel, from Alberton and the Johannesburg Canoe Club situated in the South, started paddling with her active father, Warren, while she was still a child. She also partners up with her younger brother Ryan in the doubles competitions.

However she has certainly proved her ability in the singles events as well, in both flat water competitions and river races. She lives in Meyersdal, Alberton and she is now racing in the u-23 age category.
