2000 SA Olympic Legends to take on Ekurhuleni Legends

Legends of the soccer in action during Gauteng Champ of Champions day.

All eyes will be drawn to the Tsakane Stadium on Saturday, November 13 as the second edition of the Gauteng Champion of Champions makes a return.

The highly anticipated tournament featuring Premier Soccer League heavyweights Supersport United, Bidvest Wits Football Club and Highlands Park will be preceded by a trip down memory lane with the golden generation of South African football.

In line with the tournament taking place in an Olympic year, the Gauteng Provincial Government is proud to announce an exciting addition to the event, namely a curtain-raiser match where the 2000 SA Olympic legends will take on the very best legends to have come out of the Ekurhuleni region.

Players such as Jabu Mahlangu, Steve Lekoelea, Aaron Mokoena and Matthew Booth will form part of the historic Olympic team that beat the mighty Brazil at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games, while the likes of Jerry Skhosana, Pollen Ndlanya, Jabulani Mendu and Shakes Ngwenya will be eager to show that Ekurhuleni is no slouch when it comes to producing legendary players.

Popular comedian Skhumba Hlophe, who hails from the Ekurhuleni township of Tembisa, will entertain the crowd with his witty commentary during the matches.

Tickets to the Gauteng Champion of Champions are now available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers as well as Usave Outlets.

Gates to the Tsakane Stadium will officially open from 11:00.
