Thousands expected to Cycle4Cansa

Cycle4CANSA over the weekend at Sun City.

Bestmed and Powerade continue their tradition of raising money for and awareness of Cansa in the Cycle4Cansa Classic, on August 20 and 21.

Cycling enthusiasts can once again ride with purpose at this year’s event, which includes a mountain bike challenge on Saturday, and the road race on Sunday.

The Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Classic is an official seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour and attracts thousands of entries every year.

Since its inception, the Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Classic, at Sun City, has raised over R3.4-million for Cansa’s education and patient care and support programmes in the region.

The event first drew 1 800 riders in 1998, with a record number of 12 000 participating in the past three years.

For the road race, there are two distances to choose from, a challenging 103km route and a 70km route.

The ever popular children’s race includes two categories; one for under five-year-olds and a second for 10 and under.

The mountain bike challenge, now in its 10th year, has grown to become one of the “must-enter” events on South Africa’s mountain biking calendar.

The number of entries is expected to grow this year, as it has consistently done since the event’s inception. There are two categories, a 50km and a 25km distance.
