Bedeman set sights on WBO title

Jason Bedeman will challenge the WBO Africa Interim welterweight title.

JASON Bedeman, from the BRD Boxing Academy, has set his sights on the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title.

He will take on Sacky Shikukutu for the WBO Africa Interim welterweight title on Saturday, June 11, in Windhoek, Namibia. The 12-round bout will be staged by Sunshine Promotions’ Nestor Tobias, on the Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board’s tournament.

Bedeman last fought Warren Joubert, in Kempton Park, in December 2015, and this will be his first outing in the ring this year. He previously held the Pan Africa Association World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All Africa belts.

He boasts a record of 25 fights, three losses and 18 knockouts, while evenly matched Shikukutu has a record of 24 fights, three losses and 15 KOs.

Boxing from out of the Manny Fernandes camp, Bedeman will take his shot at the WBO title if he manages to win on Saturday evening.
