Cross-country season begins

Cross Country season to start with first league meeting.

The 2016 cross-country season will commence on Saturday, April 29, at Kagiso Sports Complex, West Rand.

This will be the first league meeting of Central Gauteng Athletics. Altogether, eight meetings will be held in different regions falling under CGA demarcation, namely Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg and the West Rand.

The leagues cater for a large range of age groups, which includes children as young as eight years to the oldest athlete being over 75 years old. Over the years CGA has performed exceptionally well in cross-country and normally sends out a reasonable big team to represent the province in the South African Championship which will be held on September 10 in George.

Athletes are required to participate in at least four leagues, plus the CGA Championship which will take place at the Boksburg Stadium on August 13, in order for them to make the team. CGA looks forward to a progressive and action filled season.
