CRICKET South Africa (CSA) announced the Momentum Proteas women’s squads that will take on England in a three-match, One-Day International (ODI) and three-match T20 international series from February 7 to 21.

All three ODIs will form part of the ICC Women’s Championship, the qualification tournament for the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup in England. The last two T20 matches (at PPC Newlands and Bidvest Wanderers stadiums) will be played as televised joint double-headers with the Proteas men’s T20s against Australia.

“We are excited to be back on the field and play on South African soil,” said Mignon du Preez, the Momentum Proteas Women’s side captain. “We have a strenuous time ahead playing in a series against Engalnd, so we will have to look after our bodies very well to prevent injuries.”

“The team is also excited to play on home soil and to show our capabilities. I want to urge spectators to come out and support us, as we need all the support against these teams.”

The team have had nearly a twelve month break between international cricket matches and last played a home series in 2013.

Coach Hilton Moreeng is looking forward to playing at home once more. “Playing in front of home crowds will be exciting and, at the same time, motivating for the players to do well.”

South Africa are currently fourth in the Women’s Championship log, with England in fifth position.
