Sun City, the icon for legends, rejuvenated

One can go back in years and recall legend of the heavy weights in South African, Gerrie Coetzee, who fought his battles at the Super Bowl.

MANY South African’s have made their way to one of the best known places in the country, Sun City, to either watch well-known sporting personalities vying for the most coveted trophies, or to indulge in the leisure offerings.
The Entertainment Centre will be included in the massive R800-million refurbishment of this iconic building, which featured some of the best in South African history on the boxing front and other related sporting events, not to mention the legendary opening of the venue, which had Frank Sinatra doing the honours.

The Boksburg Bomber, who held the WBA title, fought Greg Page and Mike Weaver in the Super Bowl, but could not hold onto the title long enough, so and his reign was short-lived.

In 1981, Frank Sinatra headlined the opening night of the 6 000-seater Super Bowl, after which many famous performers chose to performed at the venue, such as the Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, Cher, Millie Jackson, Liza Minnelli, Paul Anka, Status Quo, Rod Stewart (July 1983), and Elton John (October 1983), as well as British rock band Queen.

Sun International’s legendary Sun City, which opened on December 7, 1979. will revitalize its iconic appeal and ensure that it retains its rightful place as one of the most exciting leisure destinations in the world.

The rejuvenated Sun City will be ready for the Nedbank Golf Challenge from November 10 to 13, which will will coincide with the European Tour visitors and spectators can look forward many more exciting experiences at the resort.
