KFC kids go down to Proteas

Proteas vs KFC Mini-Cricket kids tour.

THE biggest game of cricket was played between an eight-man team of the Proteas and Summerfield Primary School in the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs tour.

The match took place right at Summerfields Primary School on Wednesday, January 20, having the Proteas 2-0 down in the series of four matches.

But the Proteas had other plans and they managed to pull one back in the series to walk out victorious in this match. The match was stopped due to rain, but the two sides still have one match remaining to determine who will win the series.

The Proteas consisted of Vernon Philander, Farhaan Behardien, Eddie Leie, David Wiese, Shabnim Ismail, Trish Chetty, Lizelle Lee and Sune Luus. They won the toss and batted first, managing to score 71 runs thanks to a brilliant partnership between Vernon Philander and Lizelle Lee who scored 15 and 12 runs respectively. The only wicket that the KFC Mini-Cricket kids took was when Jessica Thomas got the wicket of Eddie Leie with the first ball of the match.

Jessica Thomas and Cody Mac Vay tried to get the kids off to a good start but only managed to score two runs in their partnership. Bohlale Mothobi and Matthew Nicholas scored a brilliant 19 run partnership when the heavens opened and the game was rained out.

The man of the match was Matthew Nicholas, thanks to the twelve runs that he hit in an attempt to chase down the Proteas score.
