Karate women lead the way

Karate women lead the way at the club.

WHO said karate is only for boys? The female members of the Cobras Shotokan karate club in Alberton are showing the boys how it’s done.

From orange belt right up to third Dan black belt, they are a force to be reckoned with and are excelling more and more each year with numerous gold, silver and bronze medals to their names from the many local, provincial and national tournaments they have competed in.

The top five trophies at the Cobras Shotokan karate club’s 2015 annual prize giving all went to some of these exceptional female karatekas.

So moms, daughters, aunties and nieces if you are looking for a great way to keep fit, build self-confidence, learn self-defence and even take part competitively, then karate, a sport for the whole family, is definitely for you. Remember, you are never too old to start.

The Cobras Shotokan karate club trains every Monday and Wednesday evening at Glenview Primary School in Brackenhurst. For more information go to www.albertonkarate.wix.com/shotokancobras, or contact Sensei Laurent on 082 494 2704 or Sensei Nicholas on 082 302 8637.
