Two exquisite cycling competitions

The prestigious 2016 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para-cycling Championships takes place in February.

THE prestigious 2016 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para-cycling Championships takes place from February 10 to 14 in KwaZulu-Natal where the country’s top road cyclists are expected to compete for the chance to earn the title of National Champion, and don the much sought-after National Champion Jersey.

Catering for all road cycling divisions, the National Championships will see elite men and women, u.23 men, junior men and women, u.16 boys and girls, masters men and women, para-cycling and tandems competing on the same route at the different required distances in the time trial and road race events. Although a SA national title will not be awarded in the u.10 to u.14 categories, specially made jerseys and age group trophies will be presented.

Cyclists wanting to compete in the 2016 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para-cycling Championships are required to be in possession of a full racing license, which is for riders from 15-years-old who wish to be eligible for provincial and national selection and respective colours award. The bearer of a full license is entitled to partake in national championship races. Elite men and women that race in these categories will earn UCI points that count toward their national and international ranking. For elite women, these points will count towards their national ranking for Olympic qualification before the end of May 2016.

The cost of a full racing license is and additional R350 per year, over and above the Cycling SA membership fee of R150 and the applicant has to be member of an affiliated club.
