Entries open for 2016 SA Road, TT and Para-cycling Championships

Entries are open for the 2016 SA Road, TT and Para-cycling Championships.

ENTRIES are now open for the 2016 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para-cycling Championships, which will take place in KwaZulu-Natal, from February 10 to 14.

Top professional local riders take part for the chance to earn the national championship title and the coveted national champion jersey. This prestigious event promises to be recognised as the ultimate road cycling event, not only for its toughness, but also for its challenging routes.

The SA National Road Championships boasts a four-day competition programme over a five-day period. The time trial competitions will be staged on February 10 and 11 and all the road races on February 13 and 14.

There will be two competition sites in 2016 with the time trials taking place in the Wartburg/Noodsburg/Harburg area utilising the same time trial routes as were used for the 2015 African Continental Road Championships with some shortened distances for the junior and master categories. The road races will be staged in the Westville, Durban area using predominantly the same routes with some minor adjustments as were used when the National Championships were staged in Durban in 2014.

Both the time trial and road race competitions for the para-cycling division are scheduled to take place in Wartburg on February 10 and 11.

The championship event will once again cater for all road cycling categories incorporating the elite men and women, u.23 men, junior men and women, masters men and women, para-cycling and tandem categories. Although competing along the same routes, each category will race within their required distances.

Please note that the u.10 to u.14 participants will be awarded age group trophies and specially made cycling jerseys, but will not be awarded an SA title.
