Ten out of ten for Lions, before crunch time

The last four teams left in the 2015 Absa Currie Cup to play for top honours.

TEN out of ten for Xerox Golden Lions team, who made no mistake to reach the Absa Currie Cup semi-finals this season with the ultimate to get a home match in front of their home crowd.

The second semi-finals Absa Currie Cup match will be played on Saturday October 17 at Emirates Airlines Park. The match will start at 13:45. Xerox Golden lions will face Toyota Cheetahs who managed to sneak in before the Cell C Sharks.

The first semi’s will take place on Friday October 16 at Loftus Versfeld where the Blue Bulls have a face-off with DHL Western province. Match will start at 19:10.

The Xerox Golden Lions stayed with consistency in the side that will take on the Toyota Cheetahs at home.

“We can feel the excitement building up and have to stay focus. The Cheetahs is an unpredictable team and can win any team any time. The team has also changed since we last played them, said head coach Johan Ackermann.

“We will do what we can do well and stick to our plans, said captain Jaco Kriel, who will again lead the team with the leadership group consisting of Whiteley, Ross Cronjé and Howard Mnisi all back on duty.

Jacques van Rooyen and flanker Steph de Wit started from the bench last weekend while centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg, hooker Robbie Coetzee, flyhalf Jaco van der Walt, winger Sampie Mastriet, Fabian Booysen, who can cover both lock and loose-forward and the impact specialist Kwagga Smith are on the bench.
